Cannabis Gummies: Not Ma & Pa’s Recipe

April 26, 2014 By Manic Conrad

I first heard about these curious little cannabis confections made by the Cannabee Candy Co. while watching the premier of State of the Green Podcast last Sunday. Tim and Victoria, the hosts, were happily munching on these candies while playing a game.

It didn’t take long for me to hear about these cannabis infused wonder sweets for the second time. This time, on Twitter. It turns out that the local peddlers aka the Raccoons Club – the Seattle marjiuana delivery service that uses bicycles – is giving away these gummy bears with every order. And they can’t keep up with demand. If you don’t want the effect of being high but do want the potential medicinal qualities, you could consider trying something like these cbd gummies 1000mg.

Not to fret and not to worry because we live in a day and age where everyone is connected. If you got a problem, use Twitter. Someone is bound to answer you. And maybe the one that answers you is the one you need most:

club raccoons cannabee candy twitter exchange

Good news! Looks like Club Raccoons is getting restocked. If you are wondering why they are giving away free cannabis infused gummy bears with every order, its’ because they are celebrating the fact they now have over 1,000 Twitter followers. Pat yourselves on the back for your support, and for those who are not following – you should!

Especially when you learn about stuff like this:

club raccoons donations

Not only is Club Raccoons giving away free gummy bears with every delivery but they are also giving back to the community in a huge way. It’s local businesses such as this that makes the world go around. So go and and support and make a difference.

Cannabis Freedom March and Music Celebration to be Held May 10, 2014

April 24, 2014 By Manic Conrad

seattle cannabis freedom march

You will want to clear your calendar on the 10th of May, 2014, for the Seattle Cannabis Freedom March. In a nutshell, the Cannabis Freedom March is a victory rally and musical celebration.

The rally begins 11am at Volunteer Park in Capitol Hill. Live music will be heard from noon to 1pm. At 1pm, the march will begin head towards an established route to Westlake Park, arriving at 2pm. Live music will greet the marchers followed by speaker panels from 2-2:30. Live music will resume from 3:30-5pm.

For the history buff in you, The cannabis Freedom March was inspired by the organization “Cures Not Wars” which was founded in May of 1994 in New York. This celebration was also held every May and become a global celebration for Cannabis. Whilst the industry can be a heavy matter to deal with, what with services like Track and trace oregon has on display showing the logistics of the thing to be no small feat, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be enjoyed. Plus if it’s global, why don’t you decide to join in? Wherever you are (provided it’s legal in your location), for example, if you’re not an American but you currently live in a location where marijuana has been legalized – such as Canada, you might want to head on over to your local dispensary, or somewhere like canadawideweed.com to have some cannabis delivered to your door, ensuring you won’t miss out on the global celebration of the cannabis plant.

Think about that for a moment. A little bit of cannabis, exercise, live music, speakers, and an opportunity to meet some friends? It’s still a little early to check the weather forecast but regardless of what the skies bring, this seems like a can’t miss event. Especially when it involves cannabis right? We’re also hoping for some of the industries leading cultivation and cross-genetic companies to join us, the companies creating new flavorsome strains that would more than likely take the cannabis industry by storm (think your Gelato 41’s, 44’s, Zkittles, Girl Scout Cookies, etc) that would be stocked in every physical and online cannabis dispensary (such as https://www.togoweed.co and others for example) in legal locations around the world.

For the history buff in you, The cannabis Freedom March was inspired by the organization “Cures Not Wars” which was founded in May of 1994 in New York. This celebration was also held every May and become a global celebration for Cannabis.

Checkout the Cannabis Freedom March Facebook page or Twitter for more information. Oh yeah- don’t forget to bring your friends!

Lottery for Recreational Marijuana Shops in Washington State Scheduled

April 4, 2014 By Manic Conrad

washington state cannabis license lottery

UPDATE: You may purchase legal weed at Seattle marijuana stores.

The date has been set. Mark it on your calendar. The state of Washington has scheduled a lottery for retail marijuana licenses to be held between the 21 and 25th of April. The wait is almost over as the Liquor Control Board adopted the plan this week.

Assisted by Washington State University, and the Washington Lottery, a random order will be generated which will lead to the eventual winners. Once the Seattle marijuana stores in Washington state are officially licensed, they will have just over 2 months to set up business.

Some former medical marijuana shops who plan on selling recreationally will most likely have a smoother and easier time transitioning than legal cannabis shops starting from scratch. While two months may seem like ample time, most shops will most likely need ever bit of it to make sure they are prepared for the first day of sales.

More than 2000 applications for retail cannabis licenses were turned in at the end of last year. Out of the 2000 applicants, only 334 licenses will awarded. That means there is less than a 20% chance of legally operating a recreational marijuana store in Washington State.  But, according to the Washington State Liquor Control Board, as many as half of the applicants are no longer being considered for various reasons.

If this is the case, then the chances of being issued a legal marijuana license jumps to more than 30%. While these odds are not very favorable, especially considering some of the applicants put in a lot of money and work, they will have a way better chance than most lotteries – especially the Washington State Lottery.

Legal Marijuana in Seattle Pushed Back Again. Bummer!

April 3, 2014 By Manic Conrad

rainy seattle

UPDATE: The recreational marijuana industry is well under way. You may purchase legal weed at these Seattle marijuana stores.

No, this is not an April Fool’s joke. We are actually a couple of days late for that. But it could very well be considered a “thorn in the side” type of joke to thousands of people who have eagerly been waiting for the re-birth of the legal Seattle marijuana industry. For people who are looking to use medical marijuana as a way of pain relief, the use of products such as a distillate inhaler is not yet legal for residents of Seattle. But as the law constantly changes regarding this industry, it may been sooner than you think where medical marijuana patients will be able to get their hands on the right medication, in the hopes of managing pain effectively and start getting their life back on track.

Forecasts first predicted May as the official grand opening of the legal marijuana in Seattle, and then it was June. Now it’s Early July. A bummer none the less but it is better than waiting until 2015, which would be a worse case scenario.

Only 8 pot growers have been issued licenses since the historic date of March 5, when 32 year old Sean Green became the first person to receive a legal marijuana license from the liquor control board. Currently, there are 36 growers who are anticipating inspections.

One of the likely reasons why the date was pushed back is because growers need about 3 months to grow and prepare the bud for sale. Sites like GreenBudGuru show some of the high-tech equipment that growers use nowadays, but since growers are not allowed to grow legal marijuana until after they have received their license, they will need about 3 months after the date of issuance. When the legalisation of marijuana does eventually happen, people who are considering venturing into this industry by opening their very own dispensary would benefit from looking into something like Green Bits’ dispensary software to help keep their business running and stick to the rules and regulations of the cannabis industry. Plus, it will help you interact a lot easier with your customers, which should always be a priority for any business. Hopefully, the legalisation will happen sooner than you think.

So what does this all mean for I-502 and legal marijuana in Washington State? Besides a delay in giving the general adult public the ability to use their statewide right to purchase legal cannabis and a delay in the benefits that tax dollars would give the state of Washington, it doesn’t really mean much.

Colorado opened its’ doors to the legal cannabis industry several months ago now, and they are still opening factions of it. For example, if you were not previously a medical marijuana shop in Colorado, then you won’t be opening up shop until july, the same time Washington State plans to unleash the industry. If you’re wanting to read into other state’s medical marijuana options, Click here to read more regarding other state dispensaries and how this new medical industry could soon be helping patients all over America, as well as the world.

Once the city of Seattle and Washington opens its’ door to the industry, it’s going to take a while before everything falls into place. One thing for sure, it’s not going to happen overnight and not without possible hiccups. Since the date has been pushed back, it is hoped that this extra time can allow the Liquor Control Board and the state of Washington can make this roll out go go even more smooth than anticipated.

In the meantime, what is one to do if they just can’t wait until early July? Don’t fret because there are options – in fact there are legal options. Even though it is technically illegal to operate recreational marijuana shops in Seattle, there are a couple establishments that are working alongside state officials to conduct business and give the citizen an option to practice their right of purchasing legal marijuana. Yes, it is technically illegal, and grey area, but since there is no industry set up, state officials and police are turning a blind eye.

The Winterlife Cooperative and the Raccoons Club, are two marijuana delivery services operating within the city limits of Seattle. Ordering weed from them is simply visiting their website or Twiter page, picking up the phone and placing an order. Winterlife has gained national media attention for their grey area delivery service while Raccoon Club is more in the “shadows.”

If you can’t wait until early July, then these cannabis deliver services are a viable option. Or, you can take a Seattle marijuana tour to brush up on your cannabis knowledge. In the meantime, sit tight. The weather will clear up soon, warm up some, and before you know it, that big date will have arrived.

Seattle Cannabis : An Industry is (Re)Born

March 21, 2014 By Manic Conrad

washington state marijuana plant

Update: The Winterlife Cooperative is now called Winterlife Cannabis. They now make cannabis infused vegan cookies. You can now purchase these cookies and other products at Seattle marijuana stores.

We are a few months away from the legal Seattle marijuana industry, barring any hang ups. Granted, there are a couple of marijuana delivery services (The Winterlife Coop and the Raccoons Club) operating in the “grey area”, but I am referring to the time frame when it’s official. When Washington State opens it’s doors to legal recreational marijuana!

Anxious, excited, curious – maybe a little nervous? – are a few adjectives that could be used to describe how I feel. But I know I’m not the only one anxiously awaiting for the beginning of a new dawn. At times it seems so fast approaching, but other times the bipolar effect is complete, and it’s so turtle paced. If anything – this time of in between, gives us time to reflect, to look around.

Each and every one of us, involved in this industry, are connected. Whether we are consumers, patients, providers, businesses, friends or foes – we are connected. And we are connected by our own unique stories of how we arrived here.

Over 10 years ago, I landed at Schipol airport in Amsterdam. I really had no desire to visit this eclectic dutch city, but a chance career move brought me to this corner of Europe before I made my way to Hamburg, Germany.

During my short stay, I had a front row seat to the budding cannabis industry. An industry that was very illegal in the US, but so common place in Amsterdam. Thousands upon thousands of locals and tourists, were scattered  and partaking in this special plant, amongst the many decorated “coffeeshops” (the dutch term for a shop where you can buy and smoke cannabis). The smell of marijuana in the air was unmistakeable.

One of my first memories of the marijuana industry in Amsterdam, was the purchase of a joint at the famous Bulldog Cafe. The joint, was a special blend of tobacco and a Sativa dominant cannabis strain. But, what really stood out to me was the packaging. The joint was packaged similar to an action figure: behind a plastic bubble, resting a a square piece of cardstock, and branded with a colorful logo. As a professional, with a creative director and graphic design background, I found this interesting and amazing. It was like being handed a little christmas present.

Throughout the next couple of days, I immersed myself in this peculiar industry. Visiting as many coffeeshops as possible, while each one had its own vision for its brand. Some had a touch of  psychedelic and catered to tourists, like The Doors offeeshop; some were dark and moody like the coffeeshop chain, De Rokerij, and some were simple and catered to locals like Cafe Siberie. Amog the shops, papers, joints, cannabis strains, pipes, and more were often packaged accordingly.

It is now, 10 years later. I sit here on my balcony in the heart of Capitol Hill Seattle, overlooking the iconic space needle. In the next couple of months, the seattle marijuana industry will officially be born, with recreational shops in Seattle, farms and processors all receiving their licenses. Medical marijuana has been prospering here for many years, but this new cannabis industry, will be open to all residents of Washington State, who are over 21 years of age.

Looking back to my trip in Amsterdam, I never imagined this would happen to my home town of Seattle, but here we are at the cusp. I vowed at the time, if it ever did, that I would find my way at the forefront of this industry. So, here I am. Serving all of Seattle and surrounding areas. Bringing the Seattle marijuana industry to your screens and keeping you up to date. Welcome to High Above Seattle and please sign up to the newsletter to keep informed.

Beautiful looking photo by this guy.
