Branding can bolster your position in the new industry of legal cannabis

September 7, 2015 By John Knotts 1 Comment

Branding can bolster your position in the new industry of legal cannabis

While the ‘pot is hot’ in states like Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Alaska other states of the US are also considering the future of commercialization and legalization of cannabis. Companies similar to CBD manufacturer being at the forefront of product labels for this legal emerging market. Keeping aside the previous taboos and other issues related to cannabis, there is a great business opportunity shining in the horizon. The boom is why many companies are breaking into the cannabis industry from as many angles as they can, like these vaporizer distributors Hamilton Devices CCELL have done with their forever evolving vape systems.

The unanimous vote to legalize cannabis had left very little window of doubt about the fact that it is going to be one of the most coveted business opportunities in recent times. However, states like Montana, Minnesota, Illinois, Nevada, California, etc. have already made way for cannabis for medical purposes; the possible recreational use, however, is still lying under bit of ‘smoke’.

No matter what, this is going to be a regulated yet profitable market in near future. There are numerous clauses regarding alcohol but it is a great money-making business opportunity for many.

Cannabis promotion needs to be done with wisdom.

But as cannabis or marijuana have always had an apprehensive response from the society, it is slightly difficult to establish it in comparison to other products. The ethical part of this business is the USP of the company that is selling it. And to maintain that you need to build a clean and green brand identity.

While promoting cannabis, the advertisement and marketing strategy needs to be carefully listed. For example, the promotions should not depict illegal consumption, over-use, under-age usage, etc. It is very important to diminish the idea of addiction ingrained with the name of cannabis. So, the promotion campaign needs to be designed with caution. For example, if you were to look at increasing brand awareness via items at sleekwristbands.com or similar custom designed promotional items, the age group, culture, gestures, language and symbol used in promoting cannabis via such items or other marketing efforts, should be considered with utmost care. All these are an important part of creating your business identity.

A branding agency understands the importance of having an attractive and clear business expression that will appeal to the customers of the right age group. The emerging cannabis industry needs to maintain a specific yet terrific line of promotions. A creative platform is the utmost requirement that supports the artistic need of your cannabis production company. Be it logo design or label creation, everything matters. With states like Missouri, Hawaii, Maine, California, etc. are thinking of breaking the chain, the industry is looking much more lucrative and competitive.

Stash Pot Shop: Bringing Ballard’s Community Closer

Ballard has gained an incredible community addition in Stash Pot Shop. The shop incorporates its motto–Community, Culture, Cannabis–into every aspect of its business. Located just off of Ballard Ave. and in the midst of popular businesses like Shelter Lounge, Hilliards and Cafe Mox, Stash Pot Shop adds to the inviting yet sophisticated atmosphere of the area. The shop’s quality product selection and its welcoming ambiance are definitely worthy of repeat visits.

Stash Pot Shop had its grand opening on Saturday. The shop was hopping all day with 19 vendors and tons of excited patrons. The energy emitted on opening day showcased the vibe that Stash Pot Shop is intent on bringing to the area. A key component in relaying that vibe, the budtenders are friendly, observant and knowledgeable. With smiling faces, they knew exactly which products to suggest to all levels of cannabis users. They are an interesting mix of people who were sought after for their positions. Thousands of people applied to be a budtender at Stash Pot Shop, but only a handful made the cut. They are artists, analysts, customer-service experts, cannabis users… they are a huge part of what makes Stash Pot Shop so great.

Now, let’s speak a bit about Stash Pot Shop’s extensive product offerings. Their opening day selection was eclectic and all-encompassing, to say the least. The spacious glass display cases (submerged in gorgeous cherry wood) currently feature cookies from Winterlife Cannabis and The Goodship Company, among others. Ethos products are currently available, as well as High Altitude and Doc Croc. There are many pre-rolled options to accompany an impressive flower selection. The selection will change often to highlight many important aspects of the industry through numerous cannabis products. All the shop’s offerings are listed on three large television screens which display the selections of oils, flowers, edibles, etc.

Each product offered is hand picked by Shea, the mastermind behind the product selection, and his dad. They drove countless miles to find the best flower producers and vetted each option to provide only the best. You can be sure that the quality here is top-notch.

The product is kept in cherry-wood drawers behind the counter. The shop’s creative design is definitely efficient. As I observed budtenders locating products for customers, I realized how well organized the shop is and how fluid everything was operating. KC, the shop’s owner, was a treat to chat with while he relayed his vision: a beautiful space, attention to detail and helping cannabis become approachable.

Stash Pot Shop is a great outlet for tourists and locals who are still not quite sure how they feel about legal cannabis. The people involved in this shop intend to negate the taboo which has clung to cannabis for decades and welcome everyone with high-quality products, a sophisticated shop layout, and friendly faces. Stash Pot Shop wants to represent the artistry and quality that is often underrepresented in the recreational cannabis industry. I’ve gotta say that, if my short time spent in the shop thus far is any indicator, they will have no problem accomplishing their vision.

Drug Testing in Public Schools: Could This Happen in Washington?

Drug Testing in Public Schools: Could This Happen in Washington?

Students in a Wisconsin high school are going to be subjected to random drug testing. Come fall of this year, students of Marinette County High School will have their student identification numbers held in a lottery system by a local medical facility; 10 names will be drawn every month and those students will be required to take a drug test, like a 5 panel drug test. This decision was made by Jeff Dorschner, the school’s Athletic Director, who believes this will help students stay away from drugs. Wisconsin is very different than Washington in many ways though the prospect of randomized testing becoming commonplace anywhere is a scary one.

Of course, marijuana is only legal for those who are 21 years of age and older in Washington. Therefore, students in high school are not old enough to legally smoke marijuana but it is ignorant to believe this stops them from doing so. Furthermore, many students do use drugs responsibly and find they enhance their high school experience as well as help them better understand themselves.

While there are numerous arguments that could be made against this new rule, some highlights come to mind. One detail is particularly disturbing: students who wish to participate in any extracurricular activities such as band or football must take and pass a drug test. Not only does a student possibly lose important outlets, he or she will also lose self-esteem due to a lack of trust from authoritative figures. Not to mention, randomly drug testing students is a serious invasion of privacy and a breach of student-adult trust.
Students who are worried about getting drug tested might want to consider taking a look at this full guide on synthetic urine. With services like this readily available online, it is unlikely that random drug testing will even work. It could just be a waste of everyone’s time.

It is one thing to drug test a minor if he or she is suffering serious academic failure or is not treating him or herself, or others, with respect. Even under these circumstances, a test should only be done to help the student make healthier decisions for his or her personal health, rather than to promote a system of unnecessary and intrusive control. The faculty and other authoritative figures in Wisconsin argue that its new drug testing rule is intended to help students make better decisions and help with peer pressure, and it is by no means a way to get them in trouble legally. Even though I am at an age well beyond high school, I still strongly feel that convincing a minor to make better decisions has nothing to do with controlling their environment but everything to do with actively respecting their privacy, facilitating open dialogue and trusting that they are not going to ruin their future.

Let’s hope that this negative impact on students does not make its way to the west. Instead, let’s create a welcoming and understanding environment for all people to feel empowered to make the best decisions for their and their loved ones’ lives. Open dialogue about drugs and how they may positively and negatively impact lives, rather than a system of fear surrounding them, will make every difference in the lives of students. Facts will be shared, advice given and love emitted. Let’s stay away from control by fear and lean towards education and trust.

What are your thoughts on randomized drug testing in high school settings? Do you believe testing would be overall negative or positive for students? We’d love to hear what you think in the comments below!

Week of Marijuana Celebrations! [HighAbovePortland.com]

Oregon kicked off the legalization of marijuana in grand fashion, with the city of Portland leading the way. There was the midnight toke celebration at the Burnside Bridge on Thursday night followed by Weed the People celebration at the MCF Craft Brewing Systems on Friday.

Samantha Webster was in attendance representing Liberty Reach. She and her room mate former Ganja Goddess budtender couldn’t resist this photo op:

Both events had free sampling of cannabis. And if that wasn’t enough, the very next day was the celebration of the country’s independence. Not a cannabis celebration, but I’m sure some of you added that component to the mix.
