Kush 21 – Burien’s 1st Pot Shop

Kush 21 – Burien’s 1st Pot Shop

Background

Behind this door sits a world of pure wonderment!

Behind this door sits a world of pure wonderment!

Sitting about 5 minutes away from SeaTac Airport in Burien, Kush 21 may be the most convenient recreational marijuana retail shop for travelers looking to experience all the joys legal cannabis can offer. The shop itself sits in a strip mall, which is nice because there is ample free off street parking available to customers.

First Impressions

The first thing customers notice after having their ID checked and walking into the shop is the huge amount of selection they offer. From the outside, the space looks much more cramped than it actually is. Once inside, I was able to walk around the expansive facility and take in all of the options in wonder.

Employees were helpful and friendly without ever being overbearing. It also seemed like they had no agenda other than trying to steer me in the right direction, which I

appreciated greatly. You know those times when as a customer you can tell that the budtenders at certain shops are pushing inferior products to try to get rid of inventory? That was definitely not the case here. The staff patiently asked many pertinent questions and tried to cultivate the highest quality cannabis experience for me, and they seemed genuinely excited to do it!

Environment

The shop has a wonderful layout where they organize their products into different categories so that customers can easily find what they are looking for. For example, they have all of their edibles and topicals on one side of the shop, and all flowers are broken down by either Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid. This simple organization system made perusing their offerings more simple than at some other shops. I also noticed they must have followed the relevant buying guidance for health and safety signage, which was reassuring to see.

Gotta love having so many options!

Gotta love having so many options!

Another thing that is made abundantly clear is how much they care about their customers at Kush 21. They strive to ensure that each person that walks through the door is treated to the highest level of customer service imaginable, and walks back out the door in better spirits than when they walked in. Also, the shop goes to great lengths to ensure that their customers keep coming back anxiously time after time. They update an online menu daily so that their products are available to view online so that you can know what’s available to you before even stepping foot in the shop! Also, they have a customer loyalty program that provides members with new product alerts when new items hit the shelves, and also offers generous discounts for those who return often. Who doesn’t love saving a few bucks just for making your purchases at the same wonderful location? Customer loyalty is a massive priority in any and all businesses, that’s why tapping into the proper resources, like https://us.epsilon.com/epsilon-peoplecloud-overview/loyalty, to make this a reality is a perfect opportunity for businesses.

Final Thoughts

The shop's staff was wonderful and super helpful!

The shop’s staff was wonderful and super helpful!

Kush 21 is a one-stop shop for all your marijuana related needs and is a great place to shop! I can say with a certainty that I will return to this store, even if it isn’t the most conveniently located for where I live. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the shop, and the budtenders’ willingness to help steer me in the right direction really impressed me. I ended up buying a few grams of a few different strains, and not only were their descriptions of the products absolutely on point, but they also were items that I likely wouldn’t have picked out on my own. I love trying new things, and was definitely not let down in any sense by Kush 21. Come check out the shop the next time you are in Burien, or are looking to try a new shop. They’ve got everything you need, and tons of stuff that you didn’t yet know you needed, but now can’t live without!

Marijuana Review: 12th Man Down by Phat Panda

Marijuana Review: 12th Man Down by Phat Panda

It may be a bye week, but we live in Seattle dammit and it’s time to do a Seahawks themed strain because, y’know… go Hawks, and “why not you”, and – yeah.  So break out your blue/green attire, and dig the sativa hybrid known as 12th Man Down.

Made by Phat Panda, we picked up an eighth at Bellevue’s Green-Theory for $39 (a smokin’ deal).  Coincidentally, I had chosen to visit the shop during a “flash sale” (only lasting 3-4 hours, often only publicized on social media), and the budtender (Gilly) strongly recommend the specific strain on sale.

12th Man Phat Panda marijuana review

According to Gilly, the strain was basically Girl Scout Cookies – but renamed.  Being a big fan of Cookies, I was intrigued and wanted to take on this Hawks themed iteration.

Phat Panda is based out of Spokane, and they have a wide selection of strains available.  I would consider their products on the “higher end” of the recreational market, usually costing upwards of $50-$60 for an eighth – still the potency is there, and they haven’t let me down yet.

Let’s dish on some Strain Specifics:
Total: 19%
Total Cannabinoids: 22%

Strain: 12th Man Down
Species: Sativa Dominant Hybrid (60/40)
Date Harvested: 06/23/16
Smell: Pine + Soap
Taste: Funky + Gasoline
Launch Point: Three to five minutes after smoking.
High:  Giddy + Balanced + Versatile

12th Man Phat Panda marijuana review

According to the budtender, 12th Man Down is Thin Mints – which is actually Girl Scout Cookies (I touched on this in the intro).  Basically this strain is beloved for it’s ability to give relaxing vibes yet not sedate heavily, and it’s powerful head high.

12th Man Down is highly crystallized.  The color is like a light green, seemingly glowing under the bright lights.  The buds were crisp and burnt well after being ground up.

After snapping a bud apart, it was apparent there was a pine-sol like aroma in the room.  That strange combination of synthetic floor cleaner (all purpose?) and earthy soil smell, it’s one of my favorites.  The taste was notably gasoline-y (or rubbery, depending on your taste buds).  Still good, though!

Okay so I’ve been on what we call a “bender” for a few weeks (thank you fresh hop season), and as a result I’ve been looking for strains that provide me with the strength to press on.  12th Man Down may sound like a songfest – but it brings you “up”, despite the name.

There was mild sedation with the strain, though that’s to be expected.  Some times we all just need to remember that life’s too short to smoke bad weed.  If this strain seems like your kind of ticket, then you can find Phat Panda products at Green-Theory, and probably at your favorite pot shop.

Go Hawks!

Marijuana Review: Black Jack by Sweet As!

Marijuana Review: Black Jack by Sweet As!

It’s been pretty warm lately, despite the fact it’s fall.  I’ve take some time off to enjoy the warmth while it’s still here (among other things), so it seems fitting to jam in one last “sunny day” strain, before all the leaves fall.  This week we bring you Black Jack by Sweet As!.

I picked up an eighth for $40 from American Mary in Wallingford (look for the ominous green doors).  The budtender I spoke with recommended this strain and he definitely steered me in the right direction.

Blackjack by Sweet As! marijuana review

Sweet As! Cannabis is owned by Green Freedom, based out of Elma, WA.  These NW producers have a high standard when it comes to growing marijuana.  Having a foundation in the medical scene, Sweet As! focuses on solid genetics, quality nutrients, organic pest control and strict environmental control.

Enough about the producer let’s chat about the weed – specifics please:

THC: 1.35%
THCA:  19.7%
Total: 18.6%
CBDA: 0.10%
CBD: 0.00%
Toal cannabinoids: 22.20%

Strain: Black Jack
Species: Hybrid (Sativa Dominant)
Date Harvested:
Smell: Mango + Pepper/Spices
Taste: Sweet + Earthy
Launch Point: Almost immediate
High: Euphoria + Good Vibes + Sunny Day

Bred from Black Domina x Jack Herer, Black Jack is often used in the medical community because of it’s high THC levels.  This strain melts away stress, anxiety – but at the same time encourages getting out from beyond your couch.  Makes you more relaxed, give you energy; the perfect combo.

sweet-as-cannabis-co-marijuana-review-3

The bud was thick and crusted with kief.  After a spell in the grinder, Black Jack burned smooth out of a pipe.  It’s always nice to get a giant nug, “yes the giant weed flower is my co-pilot” (it’s big enough to be a person is what I’m tediously getting at).

Sniffing the bud, there was a definite fruity-mango scent accompanied with notes of pepper and spice.  The flavor was earthy, and sweet.  I was not expecting such a tropical vibe from the strain.

sweet-as-cannabis-co-marijuana-review-4

Getting high with Black Jack is euphoric and engrossing.  It’s easy to get lost in your thoughts, or the view in front of you.  This strain demands your attention, but in a way that is welcoming – not an abrasive high by any means.

My favorite thing to do with this strain just get out and walk.  Breath in some fresh air, and find something or somewhere new.  Black Jack is a special strain, and it can lead you towards adventure.  Sedation is minimal, it’s easy to keep forging ahead even after the high fades.

Sweet As products are available at American Mary (Wallingford), among other pot shops in the Seattle area.

Marijuana Review: Jack Skellington by Lopez and Orr

Marijuana Review: Jack Skellington by Lopez and Orr

Any day, we can all feel out of place; some sort of brooding cartoon character hybrid harnessed to a reality that is, saying it simply, off-putting at times.  You do your best to sing, and dance – but after a certain point you hit f*** it.  Jack Skellington by Lopez and Orr is here to answer your existential troubles, and possibly that meta-holiday-identity crisis we’ve all been dealing with (thank God).

I picked up the strain from Have-a-Heart (in Fremont) for $35/3.5 grams.  It was the budtender’s recommendation in my preferred price range.  On top of being a new producer to review, there was the whole “used to watch Nightmare Before Christmas after school every day” thing, so I was sold.

Marijuana Review: Jack Skellington by Lopez and Orr

Based out of Spokane, there isn’t a ton of information available on Lopez and Orr.  They’ve got a website with information about their products (conveniently not the strain at hand in this review), but I’d like to know more in terms of their process and ideology – when it comes to growing/processing herb, I mean.

Let’s talk about the herb:

THC: 0.1%
THC A: 22.4%
CBD: 0.1%
Total THC: 19.6%
Total Cannabinoids: 22.4%
(this math doesn’t make sense to me, it’s probably rounded numbers)

Strain: Jack Skellington
Species: Sativa
Smell: Lemon + Cheese
Taste: Banana + Christmas + Halloween
Launch Point: 3-5 minutes after smoking.
High: Chill + Balanced +Refuge from the Storm

The proud child of Killer Queen and Jack the Ripper, Jack Skellington “promises an intensely psychoactive experience that brings creativity and introspection to a new level” (according to Leafly).  Typically this strain is medically prescribed to fight anxiety and stress, it could help with headaches and migraines too!

Marijuana Review: Jack Skellington by Lopez and Orr

Jack Skellington looks like it was kissed by the sun, all glistening with trichomes and kief.  The buds were delicate, and smoked smoothly out of a pipe.  Harvested in May, the nugs still were fresh – not dry, or harsh.

Popping open the lid, a combo of fruity lemon and funky cheese emerged from the container.  A stinky strain is often a good sign, praise pungency.  Oddly enough, the taste was all banana.  Go figure.

Getting high with Jack Skellington is like being stuck in a rainstorm, and suddenly a roof appears above your head – sheltering you from the storm.  I’m not a stoner (cue the Half Baked “stoner” stamp on my forehead), but it’s easy to escape with this strain packed in your pipe.  Plenty of things in this world are worth fretting over, but worrying/bloviating gets us nowhere – action is the only way forward, and maybe getting stoned will push things forward.

jack-skellington-marijuana-review-2

I’m not suggesting turning to intoxicants when feeling down; more so, when the troubles of whatever you’re dealing with are too much, it helps to get a little abstract for perspective (it may be just me who feels this way).  For what it’s worth: do what you feel like, smoke weed whenever, wubba lubba dub dub, etc.  I’ll see you next week.

Marijuana Review: Mango by NWCS

July 18, 2016 By Fischer Campbell Leave a Comment

Marijuana Review: Mango by NWCS

Picture yourself on an island, surrounded by tropical exquisitries .  You there?  Okay, now add some nugs named after fruit.  That’s the concept of this review, featuring Mango by NorthWest Cannabis Solutions (or NWCS for short).  For $10/gram, this is a potent strain that is surprisingly a full sativa (contrary to it’s lineage).

NWCS is an operation we’ve covered before.  They have several brands that are dominant in the recreational market.  On a large scale, I’ve been impressed with the consistent quality.  The producer boasts over 150 employees, whom churn out the buds, oil and edibles we all enjoy.

NWCS Mango marijuana review

According to their website, NWCS is “one of the largest recreational marijuana producer/processors in Washington”.  They’ve constructed some sorta all-encompassing Death Star™ facility full of growing areas, kitchens with bubbling pots, and extraction laboratories.

Let’s talk about the marijuaña:

THC: 26.2%
CBD: 0.9%
Total: 27.1%

Strain: Mango
Species: Sativa
Date Harvested: 03/29/16
Smell: Gasoline + Fruit + Funk
Taste:  Black Lemon + Spice
High: Euphoric + Relaxing + Deep + Good with Music

NWCS Mango marijuana review

Mango was created in the 1960’s, it was revamped in the 90’s and crossed with KC33 to produce a more potent iteration.  All the info I could find pointed to the strain being an indica, although it’s obviously a sativa (according to the testing info, and the high).  A little more research showed that Mango Haze was a variant of the initial strain that was a sativa.  It’s known for a cerebral and euphoric experience.

The smell was apparent when first opening the bag: a mix of gasoline and tropical funk.  True to it’s name, Mango had a fruity floral flavor with a hint of spice.  Smoking of a pipe, and using a vaporizer yielded a strong taste.

nwcs-marijuana-review-mango-flower

Getting high with Mango is a positive experience.  It’s immediately noticeable after exhaling, not a creeper.  This is a great “get up and go” strain; generously gifting waves of energy and good vibes.  Some folks may find it a bit strong for the morning, but I honestly like a solid slap in the face to kickstart my day.

So, yeah this an “anytime” kind of weed.  My favorite type, in fact.  Minimal burnout, easy to move on and not get stuck.  We got stoned and checked out Bite of Seattle, spent most of the time catching pokemon and hanging out in the craft beer area.  Fun times with the old Mango, here’s to good cheap weed! <clinks glass>

You can find NWCS products at: American Mary (Wallingford), Clutch Cannabis (Renton), Have a Heart (Greenwood), among many other locations.
