Marijuana Review: Green Crack by Suspended Brands

November 16, 2015 By Fischer Campbell

Marijuana Review: Green Crack by Suspended Brands

A mythical find, Green Crack is a rare example of a strain I’ve only had the pleasure of enjoying once in my life.  It was in college when I brought down a quarter of the newly picked up bud.  When I say “brought down”, it’s in the sense of sneaking it onto a plane.  Admittedly probably one of the stupidest acts an aspiring collegiate could do, but to quote the great Hunter Thompson:

Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Marijuana review: Suspended Brands, Green Crack

Nowadays, for us folks who live legally (i.e. not wanting to abuse the medical marijuana industry), mythical strains are easier to find then ever.  Just this past week, I strolled down to one of my neighborhood pot shops OZ and what did I find?  Green Crack by Suspended Brands.

My friends at OZ told me that Suspended Brands had been blowing up on MassRoots, a popular new social app that lets you interact and discover cannabis products and producers close to you.

Marijuana review: Suspended Brands, Green Crack

Suspended Brands themselves don’t have much going in terms of internet presence, except for their Instagram which is updated frequently.  They currently have a domain name that leads to a page with their logo, so it’s safe to say that the website is underway.

The jugs come in a hefty jar, adorned with a sticker featuring selective strain information.  There is also a picture of people riding bikes!  Another step towards slowly shifting the lazy stoner image further into the shadows.

Let’s talk some specifics:

THC: 22.19%
CBD: 0.19%

Strain: Green Crack
Species: Sativa
Smell: Hay + Lemon + Gasoline
Taste: Cheese + Sweet
Launch Point: 2-3 minutes after smoking
High: Punchy + Bright + Strong + Getting Stuff Done + Doing Nothing At All

I made a nug castle to properly display how fine these buds are.  The emerald green, sunbleached orange, and darker reds paint this Green Crack a mosaic of color.  Some nugs are lighter then others, but all are gentle and generous.

Marijuana review: Suspended Brands, Green Crack

Having a jar of buds is nary matched by many a thing.  Clocking open the top, and inhaling deeply – the smell is a complex combination of hay and gasoline. The taste – kinda cheesy.  A little sweetness in there, but for the most part a funky experience.

The high is potent, giving you wings but keeping you firmly (and deftly) stoned.  Green Crack gifts you with the choice to either get shit done, or do nothing at all.  Well… that’s always your choice (high or not) – but it’s certainly more enjoyable with this strain.  Good for creative process as well, break down the writer’s block!

After smoking the strain – I was thinking about the bikers on Green Crack’s sticker.  Envisioning having my own marijuana production business, I wondered what would be on my package.  It would definitely be in a jar, but the sticker would not feature active people.  The style would be like a cartoon, with a guy (or girl) on a couch, maybe with their dog, or their friend (or both).

Marijuana review: Suspended Brands, Green Crack

And that’s it.  Seriously.  Above in the review, I briefly jested at the subject of the lazy stoner’s absence in legal pot marketing.  The thing is that it’s not a joke – where is the marketing for those who don’t want to get high and venture into mother nature?

This is not in any way negatively directed towards those who choose to use exertion, and the outdoors as a vehicle for marketing marijuana.  There are days, and strains, that go hand and hand with such actions.  I just don’t understand why there can’t be lazy stoner marketing, for outstanding strains like Green Crack that put me on my ass in the an enjoyable way; when all you really want to do is hang out, pet your dog, and just be.

Thanks to Suspended Brands for the lovely strain, and OZ for turning me onto it.

~

The introduction of this review had an anecdote about bringing Green Crack on a plane.  Did you wonder how it all turned out?  Surprisingly, the dumbass college student me prevailed, and the weed made it safely through the journey.  The exact details surrounding that event are meant for another article, some day.

Marijuana Review: Sour Diesel by CannaSol Farms

November 20, 2014 By Fischer Campbell

Marijuana Review: Sour Diesel by CannaSol Farms

Steezin’ on some deez – or something like that.  This week, HAS will be reviewing Sour Diesel produced by CannaSol Farms.  We snagged a gram at $31.05 from Seattle-area marijuana boutique, Green-Theory.

We’ve actually reviewed products from CannaSol Farms in the past, and have gone in depth about the Riverside, WA producer’s values, mission statement, and team.  Check out our reviews of Durban Poison, and Alice in Wonderland for detailed information on CannaSol Farms.

CannaSol Farms Sour Diesel Front Packaging

An important value to reiterate is that CannaSol Farms believes in product that is organically based, and locally sourced.  All strains are produced sustainably with no salt based nutrients, ensuring the highest quality.

Something worth mentioning is that CannaSol Farms has slightly changed the design on the front sticker of the package.  The new logo is much more clean, and still lovingly adorns the slogan “cannabis unplugged”.  I like to envision that my nugs are playing an acoustic set every time we sample a CannaSol Farms product, perhaps a garage session – regardless, CannaSol cranks solid strain riffs every time we jam.

Another new packaging related item to point out is that CannaSol now has a customer hotline included on the back!  Not really sure what we’d use a customer support line for, possibly something along the lines of help I’m too high and can’t get up.  All the same, it’s good to know that for all those new to smoking marijuana, that there is a hotline where you would presumably be able to learn more about the product you’re enjoying.

Let’s see some specifics about Sour Diesel:

Sativa
Total Active Cannabinoids – 13%
THC – .26%
CBD – .05%

(for more details, please see the sticker photo)

CannaSol Farms Sour Diesel Packaging Back

Sour Diesel is a strain I’ve had a lot of experience with – there are several different varieties (New York, etc.), but this stuff is just straight up deez.  CannaSol Farms did an excellent job of locking in the smell, and flavor – so let’s get right into it.

Upon opening the package, this author could sense a strong sour/lemon scent.  There is no spice, no earthiness – this Sour Diesel aroma is akin to pine-sol, industrial grade cleaner that almost burns the nostrils.  In my opinion, it is important for a Sour Diesel to have a pronounced fragrance, this iteration of the strain does not fail on that quality.

Cannasol-Farms-Sour-Diesel-packaging-inside

The look and feel of the bud is just what you’d want; crumbly, yet not falling apart.  Deep red hairs decorate this well shaped nug, and a thin stem completes the package.  This author sampled Sour Diesel from a bowl, and a water pipe – both were smooth, not harsh.

The taste is profoundly sour, almost like a phantom Sour Patch Kid (sans the sugar) plopped himself on your palate.  There is a mouthfeel similar to cotton (or tannins from wine, if you know your stuff).

Regardless of this specific Sour Diesel being billed as a sativa, there was some intense body high action happening – all and all the high felt more like a hybrid.  Dig in, get ready for this meditative and focused feeling to take you away.  To aid the experience, I put on some Indonesian Gamelan music (intended for the Gods) and pretty much just spaced the fuck out.

Lately, this author has been firing up the old Xbox One and playing some Assassin’s Creed: Unity.  Blasting back to the 1700’s Renaissance era of France has been a trip further enhanced by the indulgence of Sour Diesel beforehand, and during.

I can’t imagine an individual being able to do much other then being couch locked for this high, so be prepared for a stay-in kinda night (or day) with Sour Diesel – and that is certainly never a bad thing.  You need stay-at-home nugs sometimes, and I thank CannaSol Farms for their excellent take on Sour Diesel.

Marijuana Review: Hawaiian Dutch Treat, Kid Cannabis & Smores w/ a Twist

Marijuana Review: Hawaiian Dutch Treat, Kid Cannabis & Smores w/ a Twist

marijuana reviews Hawaiian Dutch Treat and Kid Cannabis

Just last week we stopped by Cannabis City and waited an hour in long so we could buy and review the latest harvest from Green Apple Industries; then we rented the movie ‘Kid Cannabis‘ which is based on a true story about a high school dropout turned kingpin; and finally, we found a recipe for S’mores but with a twist: peanut butter, just in case we got the munchies. All of this for our first ‘Marijuana, Movie, & Munchies’ Review!

Cannabis-City-Hawaiian-Dutch-Treat

Marijuana Review: Hawaiian Dutch Treat

Since Cannabis City is the only Seattle marijuana retail store that is open, we had no choice but to go there. And since the city is basically going through a ‘pot drought,’ we had only 2 strains of marijuana to choose from, both harvested by the same producer: Green Apple Industries.

The first thing that jumped out at us was the low THC content, which is the compound in marijuana which creates the ‘high’ effect. According to this infographic we created based on our research, anything less than 9% THC is considered low.

We were also a bit surprised when we opened the package to find the cannabis to be really dry shake. Like we mentioned here, we feel like we have been spoiled by the local delivery services such as Winterlife Cooperative and Club Raccoons, because we were used to receiving big round healthy buds with a strong scent and a high THC content.

Here is our assessment and review of Hawaiian Dutch Treat:

Manic: It’s really difficult for me to get past the dry shake, swag like texture and feel, of the flower. I’m not exactly sure if this is due to the growing process or if they wanted to cram as much as possible in these tiny little baggies. The high is mild. Takes a bit longer to hit and doesn’t last long. I found I needed to smoke more from the glass pipe to really feel it. But when you do, it’s a good uplifting feeling. Not great, but good. In regards to the smell, I’m big on the scent and this doesn’t have much of a smell – very faint.

Amber: Hmm. This is all right! It’s low THC, I get that – but maybe this sativa should be used for a nice stroll in the park rather than a night on the town. Here we are sitting in the comforts of a living room and I want to go for a stroll!  Don’t see much wrong with the low THC, per se. Because this was basically the only choice, then yes, there’s a problem – but when the recreational marijuana industry kicks in and there are many choices, then it’s okay, because some people may just want a really mild high.

Justin: I don’t feel anything. Do I feel high? Seriously? Sure I do. But this stuff IS mild and doesn’t last that long. Still, the effect is good. It’s happy, when I feel it  – but that doesn’t last long. Has a good taste, though.

kid Cannabis movie review

Movie Review: Kid Cannabis

Kid Cannabis is based on a true story of Nate Norman, a high school dropout in Idaho who build a multi-million dollar trafficking ring by transporting marijuana across the Canadian border. We couldn’t pass this movie up while having a toke!

Manic: The story reminds me of the Wolf of Wall Street minus the weed trafficking of course. Not as memorable as Super Bad but has it’s moments. Could have spent more time developing the story and make a couple parts of the movie more clear.

Amber: I was surprised. I thought it would be a dud or just a run of the mill, straight to DVD type of movie but it was entertaining. Makes me want to do some extra reading about Nate Norman and his story.

Justin: Meh. Felt like I have seen this dozens of times before: poor to riches flick. I like the weed part, though.

Smores

Munchee Review: Smores with a Twist

Why have a Smores when you can have a Smores with peanut butter? Or maybe not… Check out the Smores recipe here.

Manic: If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Once upon a time, Smores was just fine. Someone apparently felt like we needed to change the times and add a twist of peanut butter. call me old fashioned, but I won’t have peanut butter on my smore’s again. Reminds me of when I had a taco hot dog…hot dog’s were just fine before that.

Amber: Interesting, but in a good way. I thought I initially was going to gag, but this is almost delightful.

Justin: Next time I’m picking out the munchies for the review!
