Marijuana Review: Blue Dream by NWCS (Legends)

March 28, 2016 By Fischer Campbell

Marijuana Review: Blue Dream by NWCS (Legends)

Blue Dream is a well known sativa, renowned for it’s crisp and airy high.  It’s one of the few buds I’d recommend for a functional “morning high”, and this week we’ve got an iteration of the popular strain produced by NorthWest Cannabis Solutions (or NWCS for short).  We’ve reviewed Haze from NWCS (Private Reserves) before (which was o-kay), but this Blue Dream is worthy of any veteran smoker.

NorthWest Cannabis Solutions is a jack of all trades producer, representing multiple brands across the recreational marijuana industry: Private Reserve, Legends, Solutions, Evergreen, EZ VAPE. and Magic Kitchen.  Notably, their Legends products are consistently high quality and affordable.  3.5 grams of the Blue Dream you see in the pictures cost me $35, which is an excellent price.

Blue Dream NWCS Have a Heart

By having so many brands, NWCS products are available in almost every pot shop I visit.  At first the presence felt a little dominating, and I was wary of quantity over quality – but after enjoying several products (on and off the-review-record), the availability seemed like a good thing.

Even shops that are just opening (either by transition from medical, or brand new) seemingly have tons from the producer.  I was just at the formerly medical-only (now 21+) Have a Heart* in Fremont the other day (amid drunken 8-bit antics at Add-A-Ball), and they had a spry collection of NWCS products.  Perfect little $35 indulgence, and then back across the street for more inebriated pinball.

Let’s talk some weed specifics:

THC: 21.5%
CBD: 0.1%
Total: 21.6%

Strain: Blue Dream
Species: Sativa
Date Manufactured: 01/08/16
Smell: Funky Banana + Berry
Taste: Fruity + Sharp + Tangy
Launch Point: Almost immediately after smoking.
High: Blissful + Light + Social + Active

The buds are absolutely caked, decently trimmed, and seemed to burn well out of all contraptions.  This Blue Dream is dense, but delicate enough to crumble between your fingers.

When in the grinder, the smell of weed takes over.  Careful, you might wake the neighbors with this cheesy banana funk emanating from the basement.  The taste is similar, with notes berry and a sharpness – almost a tanginess that lingers.

Getting stoned with Blue Dream is a highly euphoric experience, the sun itself seems to shine brighter.  There is a lightness that comes with the feeling, and it’s why (as I said in the opening paragraph) this strain is one of a rare few I’ve dubbed “morning weed”; it won’t leave you burnt-out come afternoon because of the clear headed high.

Even though it’s strictly a sativa, that little 0.1% CBD gives a body vibe that works real well with the “mostly” head high.  Embrace the day and venture forth; this is a strain created for being social, moving around, and enjoying yourself (not to say you can’t veg out with Blue Dream, as well – the world is your oyster).

Northwest Cannabis Solution products are probably available at whatever recreational mairjuana retailer is closest to you.   We know for sure they can be found at Dockside Cannabis (SODO), Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop (Capital Hill), Have a Heart (Fremont), and Green-Theory (Bellevue).  Don’t see your shop?  Feel free to have a look-see at NWCS’ Product Finder.

Try the strain yourself?  Specific questions?  Anything cool we should be covering?  Just let us know in the comments below.

Marijuana Review: Haze by NWCS

Marijuana Review: Haze by NWCS

NWCS is short for Northwest Cannabis Solutions – just wanted to get that out of the way.  This week we’ve got a straight sativa (or crooked sativa, whichever way you swing) from the producer mentioned in the prior sentence.  Their products can be found at many Seattle area pot shops (specific stores mentioned in the last paragraph of the review) in the area of $30 – $40 for 3.5 grams, depending on various happy hour discounts, etc.

The strain is Haze and, if you didn’t catch on already, this iteration is produced by Northwest Cannabis Solutions.  According to the website, they are one of the largest marijuana producer/processors in Washington (size does matter).  Sporting a “state of the art growing facility, a cutting edge extraction lab, and a world class edibles kitchen” NWCS clearly has an outfit rivaling NASA (if I’m reading their “about” section correctly).

When you go to their website, there is a video to watch.  It’s called “Clone to Smoke” and showcases the journey of a humble weed plant to the potent herb we smoke.  There are a bunch of glossy shots of plants being tended, soil being silted, and nugs being meticulously trimmed – then they pop it in a grinder, roll up a joint and smoke it.  All and all, it made me want to smoke some weed.  Lucky I had this Haze.

Talkin’ ’bout Specifics:

THC: 16.3%
CBD: 0.1%
Total: 16.4%

Strain: Haze
Species: Sativa
Harvested: 10/30/15
Smell: Bubblegum + Earthy
Taste: Hay + Berry + Skunk
Launch Point: 4 – 6 minutes after smoking
High: Social + Clean + Good for Morning/Daytime + Creative

Feeling like a noob, I had never even heard of simply “haze” before.  Sure, I’d heard of “purple haze” and “silver haze” – but this was a new one for me (fun fact: according to Seedfinder there are over 300 variants of Haze strains).

Haze looks like you would imagine good weed looking like.  A large nug perched a top my beer bottle, the red hairs really stand out amongst the varied shades of green.  There is a kief dusting as well, giving the buds a sparkly demeanor.

Cracking open the package, the strain has an earthy smell; giving wafts of dirt, and grass.  After grinding it up, there was a definite bubblegum aroma on top.  The flavor was similar, tasting of berry and hay – with a notable skunkiness.

The high you get from Haze is subtle, yet fulfilling.  A euphoric combination of creativity and social positivity makes this strain favorable for morning and daytime usage.  Rejoice in a clear-headed high that doesn’t make you tired.

After smoking Haze, it feels like I have a protective buffer from the world.  Guarding me from normal irritations and occurrences, guiding me towards a functional and productive mindset.  This is a useful “do stuff” strain, a base high for all the other high’s.

Northwest Cannabis Solutions products can be purchased at Seattle area recreational shops like Capital Hill’s Unkle Ike’s, Fremont’s Hashtag, and Bellevue’s BelMar.
