Marijuana Review: Snoops Dream by AuricAG

January 25, 2016 By Fischer Campbell

Some might say that Snoop Dogg and marijuana are synonymous entities. Let’s entertain this thought, and dig deeper: not only does he own a marijuana production operation named Leafs by Snoop (was “leaves” taken?), but the Doggfather has also bequeathed his name to various strains and marijuana products. This week we take a look at Snoops Dream, by AuricAG.

A Seattle based producer, AuricAG pride themselves on their “Gold Standard”. This is, in essence, a pledge to make high quality buds. Currently the official website is under construction and pretty plain (albeit a helpful Locations page), but hopefully we’ll see more from them soon.

I tried their Dutch Treat (off the review record), and it was a solid indica hybrid. After smoking this stupefying Snoops Dream, it was clear to me that AuricAG makes some fantastic weed. This week’s strain in particular has become an instant favorite and would make some wonderful Wholesale CBD product.

One thing to acknowledge is the inclusion of a “pesticides” field on the testing info sticker. Seeing that was a first for me, and I was kind of confused; unsure of whether to applaud AuricAG for being up front with the information, I looked into the listed pesticide Azamax (Neem Oil). Neem seeds have naturally occurring pesticide properties, and are pretty harmless (apparently).

Without going on too much of a tangent, I really wonder if other producers simply omit the pesticide field because they use alleged harmless natural products. There are those who brand themselves “pesticide free”, others that don’t acknowledge the subject all, and then there are folks like AuricAG who wear it proud.

Time for this week’s Specifics:

THC A: 20.5%
CBD: .10%
Total THC: 20.9%
Total Cannabinoids: 21.2%

Strain: Snoops Dream
Species: Hybrid
Smell: Lemon Cleaner + Licorice
Taste: Funky Berry + Lemon
Launch Point: 3-10 minutes
High: Heavy + Entrancing

The bud feels crisp, and dense. Colors of light green, with long red hairs. I put the nugs in a dish for the photos, because it looks so good I could eat it. It reminds me of other quality products in the same vein, such as 10000 mg hemp oil from CBD Simply to name but one.

Talking about looking good, Snoops Dream is fragrant. Sometimes you get that chemical-like Pine sol smell from certain herbs, and this is one of them. The lemon scent follows through to the flavor, along with a berry aftertaste.

Snoops Dream is a perfect strain to unwind with; there is a decent body vibe, and the head high is strong. One of my favorite things about the high is that it’s a creeper, slowly peaking until arrival at a state of euphoric distraction. Kiss your tasks goodbye as this bud melts you to the couch.

I believe it was in boarding school when I had my first interaction with a Snoop Dogg marijuana product. It was an edible that had the likeness of the Snoopy-man-hybrid on the cover of Doggystyle. My friend had got it from a medical dispensary, or something like that. I remember being knocked on my ass, and wouldn’t you know it – Snoops Dream did the same thing. Clearly I need more Snoop Dogg related marijuana products in my life. There are so many beautiful marijuana products to enjoy in the world, perhaps you want to try something from a different culture and country because you’re feeling adventurous, you can check out texas cbd guide to help you understand CBD oil in Texas. This is great as CBD oil is known to support and bring relief to the body, it has lots of physical benefits as well as mental health benefits too, this is great to use for healing.

If you’d like to try this weeks strain, or find AuricAG products – hit up SODO’s Ganja Goddess, or Fremont’s OZ (check menus beforehand for availability).

Marijuana Review: Sonic Screwdriver by Life Gardens

December 7, 2015 By Fischer Campbell

A Sonic Screwdriver is something that helps you open doors, it helps you use your mind to interact with reality. It’s used by my favorite crime fighting alien The Doctor, so when I came across a strain called Sonic Screwdriver – my natural reaction was: geronimo!

We picked up the strain from Fremont’s OZ, a pot shop that I frequent. Sonic Screwdriver is made under the name Spark, but it’s actually part of a larger producer known as Life Gardens. “Spark” is their brand name (if you will) for a specific line of grown marijuana strains.

Not going to beat around the bush, another alluring feature of this Sonic Screwdriver is that it was $63 for 7 grams. In this day and age of soaring prices, it’s nice to find some producers who make a seriously excellent product for a price that everyone can afford.

Let’s take a specific look at said product:

THC: 0.56%
THC A: 13.6%
CBD: 0.24%
Total: 14.4%

Strain: Sonic Screwdriver
Species: Sativa
Smell: Skunk + Tropical Fruit
Taste: Sweet + Funky
Launch Point: 5 minutes after smoking
High: Productive + Creative + Energizing

These buds were a little on the crispy side, but the color and fragrance made up for it. Looking at the photos there is some serious purples and deep greens going on, complimented by a smattering of keef. The close up really shows the glorious trichomes of Sonic Screwdriver.

Talking about smell above, it’s not to be ignored. The aroma of tropical fruit is highly present, a lovely smelling strain all around. When smoking out of my pipe, there was a distinct sweetness – made even stronger in taste when vaping the nugs. Those of you who already use premium vape juice should know how much that can change the flavor of things, so it makes sense.

When The Doctor shows up, it’s out of nowhere – his vessel (known as the TARDIS) travels through space and time. That’s kind of like the high for Sonic Screwdriver, it arrives and whisks you off to other worldly delights of productivity, creativity, and positive vibes.

Fittingly, the EMP museum (in downtown Seattle) was having a Doctor Who event on Sunday. After partaking in some Sonic Screwdriver, we headed down to Seattle center. The rain was driving, as we waited in line (even though we had printed the tickets out before). I was wearing a fez hat, because I don’t have a trench coat, or sand shoes (it’s a Whovian thing). We were looking forward to the event.

What followed was a thinly veiled casual gathering, with nothing more then a Doctor Whole sticker oafishly slapped upon it. We tried to do the trivia, but the PA system was so blown – it sounded worse then a drive-through speaker. The guy on the mic couldn’t pronounce Nefertiti’s name right, he said it incorrectly at least 4 times through the course of the 20 minutes we were in his distorted shouting area. “Read a book!” someone yelled.

There were ample libations, which was great; however the price gouging was real. I suppose that’s something to expect these days, such is the cost of enjoying a brew. They had some folks caroling christmas music, and a brass band playing holiday tunes – again, both having nothing to do with Doctor Who (other then that there is a holiday special episode every year… which if that was the intention, good job?)

Not trying to be a debbie downer, just giving my full report of this event while being super stoned on Sonic Screwdriver, which truly blasted me through the few hours we were there; keeping things peppy and interesting. We got some selfies with Daleks and the blue phone box, it was kinda fun. The experience was certainly uplifted by the strain at hand.

Marijuana Review: Jilly from GrowState

September 2, 2015 By Fischer Campbell

Marijuana review Jilly GrowState, sold at Oz.

Another week, another strain from GrowState.  Last week we covered their rendition of Chocolope, and today we have a review of their Jilly – a sativa dominant hybrid.  We picked the strain up from Fremont neighborhood recreational shop OZ, one of our new favorite destinations to get smokable libations (I know libations means drinks but just work with me here).

Marijuana review Jilly GrowState, sold at Oz.

Talking about GrowState, one thing we touched on last week was how the Spokane-based operation pays serious attention to detail when it comes to creating fantastic marijuana.  From the taste of the herb, to the clear packaging so that we can see the product – this producer is thorough.

On top of the quality, GrowState has incredibly affordable artisan product in this ever burgeoning recreational industry.  I’ve been picking up 7 grams for $63, tax included.  That’s street price (give or take a few bucks).  If this producer keeps cranking out homerun hitters for a reasonable fee, then for the first time I can honestly imagine the black market not having to exist.

Weed review Jilly GrowState, sold at Oz.

Enough about counting coins, let’s talk specifics on getting high:

Total: 16.2%
THC: 7.3%
CBD: 0.3%
THCA: 10.1%

Strain: Jilly (7g package)
Species: Hybrid (Sativa Dominant)
Smell: Lemongrass + Hay + Skunk
Taste: Sweet + Earthiness
Launch Point: Almost instantaneous after smoking
High: Motivating + Hyper + Feel Good

When first looking at Jilly, the nuggets seem to look back at you.  I believe the strain can also be referred to as “Jillybean”; this is funny because the first thing I thought when looking into the bag was, “this looks like a bunch of jellybeans”.  Looking closer at the weed, it’s a wonderful fluorescent green with dark woodsy crevasses and a smattering of crystalized red hair.  Mmm!

Cannabis review Jilly GrowState, sold at Oz.

Talking about smell, this strain has a sensational scent of lemongrass, hay, and of course a little skunk.  I like it when herb isn’t super overpowering when it comes to scent, sometimes a nug can really clear a room – especially if you live in a multiple person apartment/house.

Jilly has a sweetness to the taste, I couldn’t really attribute it to anything more specific other then “sweet”.  There is definitely an earthiness to the flavor, probably following from the lemongrass/hay aroma.

Every once and awhile, you’ll find a true feel good herb – lo and behold, GrowState has conjured Jilly for our sunny and rainy days.  Rejoice in the instantaneous high, bask in the fluctuating indica body ripples, seize the day for you and yours, set goals and smash them!

Ahem.  Right… so basically getting high with this strain provided a positive and suspiciously productive experience almost every time.  I’d recommend Jilly for newcomers and veterans.  No paranoia, minimal burnout, and overall superhero-esque vibes in terms of getting shit done and having a great time while doing it.

Pot review Jilly GrowState, sold at Oz.

GrowState have done mankind an exemplary service; not only providing stellar product, but that at a decent price.  I want to go there should be your Liz Lemon-esque reaction.  Find some GrowState product today using the producer’s nifty Find a Retailer page, and if you can find some Jilly then I’d say get it.

Marijuana Review: Pineapple Explosion from 420 Natural Inc.

August 19, 2015 By Fischer Campbell

420 Natural Inc Pineapple Express Marijuana review packaging

Weed that tastes good is always a plus. Frankly all kinds of nugs have interesting flavors to me, but this Pineapple Explosion packs some serious hits in the taste buds.

High Above Seattle swung by newly opened Fremont pot shop OZ (short for “ounce”), and picked up a 1/4 of the strain for $63 – tax included. I’m not one to shy on shekels for good herb, but OZ has some crazy awesome prices for excellent nugs and a cool store design to match. Check ’em out today (and then grab a wood fired bagel across the street from Eltana :D).

420 Pineapple Express Marijuana review packaging

Pineapple Explosion is made by 420 Natural Inc., hailing out of Tumwater, WA. They may not have a website, but they’ve got social media covered with Facebook & Twitter accounts. If you’ve not heard of this company before, you might want to read up on the origin of 420 to understand where they got the name from. Here’s a little about the operation:

We are a soil medium grower that is also pesticide free so our consumers will be worry free of consuming unnecessary harsh chemicals that other growers may use. We also take pride on having our cannabis being smoother to smoke than others by the way our Master Grower harvests, cures, and how the plants grow.

“Master grower”, I like the sound of that. Just like a cheese monger, or sommelier – the master grower excels at creating fantastic marijuana. I applaud 420 Natural Inc. for taking necessary steps to ensure their product is as natural as possible, and for conscripting such a talented bud guru when it comes to growing (because this strain is strong and wonderful).

420 Pineapple Express Marijuana review packaging

Let’s look at some specifics:

Total THC: 18.38%
CBD: .882%
Total Cannabinoid: 22.12%

Strain: Pineapple Explosion
Species: Sativa
Smell: Pineapple + Fennel + Skunk
Taste: Sweet + Lavender + Fennel + Pineapple
Launch Point: 2 minutes after smoking
High: Crisp + Light Spaciness + Motivating + Euphoric

The buds themselves are crispy, sporting a green blanket of crystal coated goodies that morph from nug to leaf to red hair and back again. Pineapple Explosion burns nicely by bowl, bong, and vape; it’s also to be said that there is an element of smoothness to the smoke. Mmm.

When opening the package, the smell is instant. Pineapple Explosion is a fierce strain, immediately permeating your surrounding area with pungent pineapple stink waves (like in the cartoons). If you’re going to name a strain after a fruit, the nugs better smell like that fruit – and so they do! We also picked up hints of fennel, licorice, and even dill.

Tasting is akin to what was smelled, serving up robust flavors of sweet fennel. There was a floral nature to the strain as well, something along the lines of lavender. Needless to say, Pineapple Explosion is a delicious strain.

420 Pineapple Express Marijuana review packaging

Getting high with Pineapple Explosion is a versatile experience. For being a sativa, there is an undeniable “indica spaciness” – but not enough to overtake the lightness, and euphoria that prevails. This is a strong strain that I would not recommend to a first time smoker, but since I don’t know any of those – I’d highly recommend this bud to all you readers, and anyone looking for a superb toke.

Sunny day/rainy day, indoor/outdoor, social/solitary, motivated/couch potato – it’s time to choose your own adventure with 420 Natural Inc’s feel good strain: Pineapple Explosion. Thanks for reading, thanks to the producer for the fantastic product, and we’ll see you next week.
