Earlier this year, the Winterlife Cooperative – a Seattle recreational marijuana delivery service – had plans to transition into a I-502 retail marijuana store if there were too many obstacles to face with their delivery business model. According to Wombat, a delivery driver with the company, ‘they had a retail location ready to go if they were forced to abandon the recreational delivery service model.’ This was well before any I-502 retail marijuana licenses were issued and all the wrinkles ironed out (or most of them, anyways.)
By the looks of it, their plans will not come to fruition, and the pressure to change their business model was too great. According to the Seattle Times blog, the Winterlife Cooperative will be closed for the next couple of days while they transition their business model to only serve medical marijuana patients only (which is not exactly legal either, but less regulation.) And at least they have this as an option – you can see that on this page some states, like Florida, aren’t even allowed to issue medical marijuana cards. We sure are grateful to be in Seattle when we’re reminded of this!
Recently, we figured this pot delivery service could be raking in up to $50,000 per day. By transitioning to the medical marijuana side of the industry, this could have a huge impact on their earnings.
