Kush 21 Holiday Canned Food Drive

December 23, 2016 By Kevin Kenley

Kush 21 offers 1% off entire purchase per canned good item donated up to a max of 15% per customer per day!

Kush 21 offers 1% off entire purchase per canned good item donated up to a max of 15% per customer per day!

The Holiday Season is upon us, and Kush 21 in Burien is certainly feeling moved by the holiday spirit! The shop was the first in town and has worked tirelessly to not only create a name for themselves, but also to substantiate themselves as being one of the best things to happen to the town. They are proving that again with a canned food drive they are putting on in their shop in partnership with Northwest Harvest located in historic Kent.

Their canned food drive extends through the end of the year, and to offer extra incentive to donate, customers can receive 1% off their entire purchase for each food item they donate, with a maximum of up to 15% off per person, per day. This means that if you bring in 15 cans of food, you can get up to 15% off your entire purchase every day until 2017! Not only is that a chance to stock up on the cheap, but also to give back to the surrounding community and make sure that fewer people go hungry around the holidays. If the weed alone didn’t make you feel good enough, now you get some spiritual cleansing as well!

As if that wasn’t enough, Kush 21 is also working on organizing a Coat and Warm Clothes Drive that we should have more details soon on. The temperatures are dropping outside, and the shop doesn’t want to see anyone go unnecessarily cold, and we applaud their humanitarian efforts. It’s always nice to see others giving back because the feeling is infectious, and taking part in the cause just makes you feel better about the state of the world, even in the most trying times.

Kush 21 in Burien certainly is in the holiday spirit!

Also, Kush 21 will be offering Christmas Specials where they will offer 5 different products ranging from 10-25% off each day through the holiday. And if you forgot to stock up, don’t worry, because they want to make sure that no one has to spend the holidays without herb! The shop will be open both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to provide Christmas cheer and Christmas Cheeba.

Be sure to get down to Kush 21 before the end of the year and bring some canned goods along with you if you want to receive their great discounts! The shop is located at 17730 Ambaum Blvd. S in Burien, and is open from 9a-11p daily. You certainly won’t regret it!

Summer Over? Who Cares! Weed-Vacation in Beautiful Ocean Shores

September 22, 2015 By Ellie Klein

Ocean Shores Washington State

Ocean Shores Washington State

The essence of pumpkin spice lattes is in the air and every supermarket storefront in Seattle is overwhelmed by warty gourds. Fall is upon us! Though, just as there are those who never want to grow up, there are those who never want to leave summer. Many people are forcefully pulled from summer, kicking and screaming. If you fall into this category of human, I am here to tell you that you don’t have to give up summer! All you have to do is head to Ocean Shores, Washington, the Neverland for fall naysayers. The city is gorgeous and the businesses unique; if you follow this trip itinerary you will be in for a treat!

The Perfect Place to Rest Your Head: Grey Gull Condominiums

The drive from Seattle to Ocean Shores takes a little over two hours, so a day trip is entirely possible. But, really, you know you want to spend a whole day exploring the city and not worry about making the trip back to Seattle the same day. So don’t. Just check in at the Grey Gull which features individual, rentable condos. Opt for an ocean-view room on the second floor with a fireplace and unique furnishings, which may or may not feel like you are staying in your well-to-do grandparents’ home (not in a weird way, rather a happy nostalgic way, I promise). Once you have dropped your luggage and have sat in the bathtub to size-test (am I the only one who does that?), head out for the area’s finest clam chowder.

When in Rome, Eat Fish and More Fish! Lighthouse Fish and Chips

There is this fantastic, tiny lighthouse which serves the area’s best fish and chips and clam chowder. A place where every guest is met with a smile and more often than not a personal conversation with the friendly owner. A place where dreams of crispy, not greasy, fish and chips and clam-y clam chowder come true. Lighthouse Fish and Chips is a local favorite that you cannot miss. The inside is small, but the hearts running the place are large and stomachs leaving the place even larger. After indulging here, head on over to a local favorite establishment to pick up a bit of an after-meal relaxant.

Women in Marijuana [Part 2] Feat. Clutch Cannabis

September 14, 2015 By Ellie Klein

women in marijuana

As someone who has not been a part of the Washington cannabis scene for a super long time, seeing it flourish and become so relevant in a short amount of time is a real treat. Though, because I am somewhat new to the scene, I also have an understanding of how misunderstood and feared marijuana is in other areas of the country. This is disappointing; if people did their research, they’d know that cannabis should not be feared and has many health benefits. By visiting sites like Oregrown, which you can Click here to view, more could be learned about cannabis. Thankfully, the stigma that clings to marijuana is slowly becoming obsolete, which in part is thanks to the work being done here and in other legal states to make marijuana approachable and understood. A huge part of facilitating this understanding, women in the Washington cannabis industry are forging new paths and adding to the industry in tremendous ways.

The women in Washington state are really doing amazing things to change cannabis’ negative reputation, helping others realise that they can buy topicals online to help with their ailments, as well as in in-person stores. The passion that women bring to cannabis is contagious and exciting to see and talk about. Not everyone is familiar with this passion, or any positives about the industry. The feelings numerous people still have about marijuana can be very hard to believe. It is definitely a shock when I visit friends and family in other areas of the country and am met with lots of nervous energy and disbelief when I speak about the Washington cannabis industry. They simply do not understand the magnitude of what is happening here.

When I encounter someone who is nervous about marijuana, I want to help them understand the incredible things happening because of cannabis, with websites like https://amuse.com/california/los-angeles being there for people in need and adding to the economy. Tremendous economic success is a familiar talking point, but I love adding an exciting twist that peaks my listeners’ interest: Women in cannabis are a driving force and offer a “breath of fresh air to the current male-dominated cannabis industry.”

As the store manager of Clutch Cannabis, Ashley is deep in the cannabis culture of the area and loves every minute of it. She offered some great insight into what it is like working in an industry that is doing so much good, but is fighting a sometimes debilitating stigma. The legal marijuana industry is continuously developing in ways that no one has seen business develop before. In the midst of this exciting change are people who believe that marijuana is harmful, people who are trying to stop its growth by fostering negative ideas in their communities. Shedding this negativity is a huge task but is so important for the future of cannabis. Women like Ashley are tackling this head on, working tirelessly to make cannabis approachable for everyone.

Creating this welcoming environment around something so controversial is not easy. Though, it is 100% achievable with the right mindset. Ashley and her team believe that marijuana is universal and they are on a mission to share all of the good that it brings to culture as a whole. Cannabis is deeply engrained in numerous aspects of culture, from art to science; economics to world history. The women of the industry will stop at nothing to help others see the incredible positives of marijuana and the tight-knit, inspiring communities it creates.

Women are a driving force for marijuana business, as well as marijuana acceptance. They bring so much to the industry; their positive presence is unstoppable and undeniable. The future of cannabis is all the brighter because of the women involved in pioneering the industry. And that, my friends, is only going to help us all.

Branding can bolster your position in the new industry of legal cannabis

September 7, 2015 By John Knotts

Cannabis Branding

While the ‘pot is hot’ in states like Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Alaska other states of the US are also considering the future of commercialization and legalization of cannabis. Companies similar to CBD manufacturer being at the forefront of product labels for this legal emerging market. Keeping aside the previous taboos and other issues related to cannabis, there is a great business opportunity shining in the horizon. The boom is why many companies are breaking into the cannabis industry from as many angles as they can, like these vaporizer distributors Hamilton Devices CCELL have done with their forever evolving vape systems.

The unanimous vote to legalize cannabis had left very little window of doubt about the fact that it is going to be one of the most coveted business opportunities in recent times. However, states like Montana, Minnesota, Illinois, Nevada, California, etc. have already made way for cannabis for medical purposes; the possible recreational use, however, is still lying under bit of ‘smoke’.

No matter what, this is going to be a regulated yet profitable market in near future. There are numerous clauses regarding alcohol but it is a great money-making business opportunity for many.

Cannabis promotion needs to be done with wisdom.

But as cannabis or marijuana have always had an apprehensive response from the society, it is slightly difficult to establish it in comparison to other products. The ethical part of this business is the USP of the company that is selling it. And to maintain that you need to build a clean and green brand identity.

While promoting cannabis, the advertisement and marketing strategy needs to be carefully listed. For example, the promotions should not depict illegal consumption, over-use, under-age usage, etc. It is very important to diminish the idea of addiction ingrained with the name of cannabis. So, the promotion campaign needs to be designed with caution. For example, if you were to look at increasing brand awareness via items at sleekwristbands.com or similar custom designed promotional items, the age group, culture, gestures, language and symbol used in promoting cannabis via such items or other marketing efforts, should be considered with utmost care. All these are an important part of creating your business identity.

A branding agency understands the importance of having an attractive and clear business expression that will appeal to the customers of the right age group. The emerging cannabis industry needs to maintain a specific yet terrific line of promotions. A creative platform is the utmost requirement that supports the artistic need of your cannabis production company. Be it logo design or label creation, everything matters. With states like Missouri, Hawaii, Maine, California, etc. are thinking of breaking the chain, the industry is looking much more lucrative and competitive.

Brandsy.co is your solution to your cannabis branding needs.

The creative team of Brandsy tries to understand your vision and goal. This knowledge of perspective is the stepping stone towards creating your dream. The logo is the face of your company. A creative squad is required to create a brand identity that will emote the true essence of your business. Apart from this, we give you the virtual mileage by creating a pro-business website and doing the required optimization so that your potential cannabis buyers find it. We know that to reach out to your possible buyers, you need to have a great web presence. For assured growth optimum quality services is the main requirement. Wake Up and Bake, Seattle

August 10, 2015 By Ellie Klein

Wake up and bake seattle

Marijuana has been legal in Washington for almost three years, with recreational marijuana sales in Oregon ready to begin October 1st. However, Portland has just reopened the World Famous Cannabis Cafe, a place for people 21 years of age and older to smoke with others while Washington still has no place like this. Wait, why doesn’t Washington have a similar cafe for smokers to come together to enjoy legal pot and good company in a bar-like setting?

About two years ago, Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes asked the state liquor control board to allow private clubs for people to smoke in. A major reason behind this push was for tourists to have a place to smoke the legal pot they purchase. Smoking inside marijuana shops and in public is not legal. Of course, Washington residents are allowed to smoke in the privacy of their homes; however, those who rent a home must abide by the contracts of their rental agreement. Holmes was hoping to help tourists and renters with this measure though his proposal was not accepted.

marijuana club smoking

The World Famous Cannabis Cafe provides numerous smoking devices and social ambiance and all that is required of patrons is $10 at the door as well as their own marijuana. In Oregon, recreational marijuana is only sold in small quantities at medical marijuana stores, as there are no recreational-only stores until sometime in 2016. Citizens are also allowed to grow up to four of their own marijuana plants. Consumers are legally able to partake in the privacy of their own homes, or on private property. In terms of obtaining recreational marijuana, Washington makes it a bit easier at this point but still falls behind in public consumption.

Colorado is home to numerous marijuana clubs, where members can go to enjoy pot together. Like The World Famous Cannabis Cafe, patrons pay an admission fee and bring their own marijuana. Colorado Amendment 64 prohibits public consumption of marijuana, but private pot dens are legal because they do not sell marijuana, nor do they sell any food or drinks. These clubs were created so that people may gather and smoke marijuana indoors without fear of legal retaliation from landlords or law enforcement. They are the answer to the wishes of renters and tourists.

Opposite the other states’ admissible pot dens, Washington cracked down on establishments that allowed marijuana consumption on the premises when recreational marijuana was first legalized. The government explicitly stated the reason for this was because the law clearly states that consuming marijuana in public was illegal, and restaurants and bars are public places. Though, Colorado and Oregon both have similar laws and allow marijuana consumption in private buildings which don’t sell marijuana, food, or drinks.

So, why is it that Colorado and Oregon have bars for people to smoke marijuana, but Washington does not? All three states prohibit the public consumption of marijuana though two of the three allow private pot den operations as long as they do not sell marijuana or food. It is likely only a matter of time before Washington lawmakers ease up and allow marijuana clubs to establish. Until then, it is up to the marijuana consumers of the state to keep asking for leniency in the law so everyone, including renters ad tourists, can enjoy their legally bought marijuana indoors with the company of other consumers.
