With this sudden jolt of heat, I figured a crystal-cool sativa would hit the spot. We’ve covered Blue Dream before, but not the iteration from Phat Panda. It was recommended to me by a budtender at Fremont’s fully recreational Have-A-Heart*, a gram cost $18 – which is a little steep, but after she showed me the bud it was already bought (in my mind).
The producer is one that I’ve seen many times before, but had not picked up. Washington based, Phat Panda is a brand line of marijuana under the guise of Grow Op Farms. Featuring over 40 strains, these farmers have been hard at work. With so many different strains, you would need the best weed grinder to get you through many of them. Judging from the webpage, the nugs look spectacular. If you don’t believe me, check out their pictures; deep colors with potency to match. Phat Panda clearly delivers an artisan line of marijuana.

According to Phat Panda’s website, “Blue dream is… born from crossing DJ Short’s Blueberry Indica and the Santa Cruz native Super Silver Haze. It’s medicinal uses are mainly in the treatment of depression and anxiety related symptoms”.
I took the pictures right as the sun was setting, around 7:30pm. The last golden ray of shine cast itself upon Blue Dream, and it lit up like a tiny planet itself. Delicate and keif covered, these nugs are worth the entry fee (if you’re feeling a treat ‘yo self mood coming on).
After crumbling a bud apart, there were immediate hints of something like tangerine citrus. I also smelled sweetness, maybe vanilla. In terms of taste, I definitely picked up cheesy funkiness; along with a bit of the citrus vibe from before.
The high is strong, but not in a way that feels thick. There is a crispness factor that is almost motivational; encouraging you to be positive with whatever you are doing. Blue Dream is versatile in terms of smoking anytime of the day or night, which is why it’s one of everybody’s favorite strains.

Blue dream is one of my favorite strains to get from farms that I am unfamiliar with, simply because it is rare that I find a bad example of it. I am thinking that it must be an easy one to grow.
$18/gm is way out of line, tell your shop they would sell more if they priced it better. Weed money has always been made in turnover, not sitting on it until it self decarbs…. You can find Panda for a lot cheaper, it is just the stores still think they need to sell $2-$3 grams at 5-7x markup, I personally pick them up for between $25-$30 an eighth, which is what the legal rec. market should be if they truly want to knock out the black market.

$18/gm is definitely (as I said in the review) steep. Although, considering the bud was harvested a month ago, I’d wager the store doesn’t have that much trouble selling it (or else it would have a further out harvested by date – like the Emerald Jane’s strain I reviewed last week that was harvested in frickin’ November, yet still $17.50)
Any recommendations on stores where we can pick up Phat Panda products for cheaper? I was happy with the quality, for sure. Also feel free to give us any recommendations in general – we always enjoy hearing what our readers are stoked on. By chance, have you tried any Solstice products? I’ve been loving the price and quality.

Mr Bill’s of buckley sells $50 1/8ths of Phat Panda, they just had Space Queen down to $40, there is another out in Elma, by far the cheapest I have found on the entire coast. Miller’s Marijuana is what should be the model business for this market. Never an 1/8 over $30, Dabs as cheap as $16/GRAM (not half). And full OZ as cheap as $90 (not top shelf, but fun to cook with $100 zips, or make tinctures…)
last month I walked out of that place with an ounce of Phat Panda, 5 different strains, and spent $220 with the tip… I try that at another shop and I will get the shaft, NM the tip… And they have a picture of the owners, Josh and Mindy, with Chong! Friggin Chong man, Willy is cool (we had this discussion) but friggin CHONG! Maybe it is just me, but that earned them a ton of street cred and then they come correct with the pricing, too. The only shop I know of that is actually cheaper than buying off the street.
Grew up loving Cheech and Chong as a kid in the 90’s, so yes – all the street red to Millers. Definitely a place I will visit if I’m in the area.

Recently been checking out VWC, GTP, Knight’s Hemplar, and Double Delicious (Eva) farms. Just grabbed a 1/2oz C99 ($100), 1/8 Power Kush ($30), 1/8 God’s gift ($30), 1/8 Green Crack ($30), 1/gr. blue dream kief ($16) and 1.5 grams wax ($45)… Barely spent $250, maxed out purchase and got nothing but 22% and higher, including another dab syringe at 88%THC. (This purchase would normally run over $400, maybe up to $600, depending on the store.)
Why don’t you come out and spend a 420 on the lake?
I can even have one of my stoner-preneurs bring his e-nail dab rig (just hit the market, better than the Dark Night) and we can have a serious session (just make sure you have an Uber driver take you home… Not a fan of sending folks out the door loaded)

Solstice had this killer Strawberry Cough (among a multitude of other good strains) for $35/3.5grams, until I discovered Have a Heart was selling them for $30 (which is why I started frequenting there).
Double Delicious has some killer product. In fact, it’s time I revisited them at point soon *sticks idea in hat*.
I’ve been meaning to take a trip through Tacoma to Olympia to check out some breweries and dispensaries, a day on the lake would fit right in with that.

DD does a nice job of keeping flavors straight, but try the Bud Co “fix it felix” that is a nice Indica and they did a very nice job with it.

The ones in the stash box were all bought in one trip out to Miller’s Marijuana in Elma. The rest on the shelving are from there and a couple of other shops. The cheapest I found Phat Panda was at Miller’s. So cheap, I filled the stash box they sold me and took this picture to brag to my buddy in OR about it.
Miller’s carries a bunch of farms and ALL of them were cheaper than anywhere else. Take a look at their menu on allbud, it is always updated and you can phone in your order for pickup.
Last time I was out there I picked up a 24% OZ for $75.
If you like dabs you could pick up a 1/2 OZ of the budget flower for $40 and then buy 3 grams of wax to kill off a C-note and come up on a 1/2oz of decent smoke for the same price as those 3 grams of wax at most stores around here.
Damn.

You saw the box, (that only cost $220, or about 4 eighths at other shops) I can’t do that w/o a trip out to Porter, yet. I am seeing new shops come in with decent pricing, even finding more panda around $10-12/gram.
Yeah, it is 3 hours of my day and it costs me $20 in gas…But, I justify it in savings, I look at it like I am paying myself about $60 per hour by saving nearly $200 with each trip.
I am going to grab you a 1/2 gram of some highly refined wax from Two Heads Company, it is boasting 99.6 Total and 88% THC… I can sit on it for a few days, but eventually it will start whispering my name at about 4:20 each day 😉
If you get a chance, try Bang’s OG Buddha Tahoe. I really enjoyed it the first time I smoked it, now I need to know if my tolerance is blown or it is not that good anymore…
