Snoops Dream

Some might say that Snoop Dogg and marijuana are synonymous entities. Let’s entertain this thought, and dig deeper: not only does he own a marijuana production operation named Leafs by Snoop (was “leaves” taken?), but the Doggfather has also bequeathed his name to various strains and marijuana products. This week we take a look at Snoops Dream, by AuricAG.

A Seattle based producer, AuricAG pride themselves on their “Gold Standard”. This is, in essence, a pledge to make high quality buds. Currently the official website is under construction and pretty plain (albeit a helpful Locations page), but hopefully we’ll see more from them soon.

I tried their Dutch Treat (off the review record), and it was a solid indica hybrid. After smoking this stupefying Snoops Dream, it was clear to me that AuricAG makes some fantastic weed. This week’s strain in particular has become an instant favorite and would make some wonderful Wholesale CBD product.

One thing to acknowledge is the inclusion of a “pesticides” field on the testing info sticker. Seeing that was a first for me, and I was kind of confused; unsure of whether to applaud AuricAG for being up front with the information, I looked into the listed pesticide Azamax (Neem Oil). Neem seeds have naturally occurring pesticide properties, and are pretty harmless (apparently).

Without going on too much of a tangent, I really wonder if other producers simply omit the pesticide field because they use alleged harmless natural products. There are those who brand themselves “pesticide free”, others that don’t acknowledge the subject all, and then there are folks like AuricAG who wear it proud.

The bud feels crisp, and dense. Colors of light green, with long red hairs. I put the nugs in a dish for the photos, because it looks so good I could eat it. It reminds me of other quality products in the same vein, such as 10000 mg hemp oil from CBD Simply to name but one.

Talking about looking good, Snoops Dream is fragrant. Sometimes you get that chemical-like Pine sol smell from certain herbs, and this is one of them. The lemon scent follows through to the flavor, along with a berry aftertaste.

Snoops Dream is a perfect strain to unwind with; there is a decent body vibe, and the head high is strong. One of my favorite things about the high is that it’s a creeper, slowly peaking until arrival at a state of euphoric distraction. Kiss your tasks goodbye as this bud melts you to the couch.

I believe it was in boarding school when I had my first interaction with a Snoop Dogg marijuana product. It was an edible that had the likeness of the Snoopy-man-hybrid on the cover of Doggystyle. My friend had got it from a medical dispensary, or something like that. I remember being knocked on my ass, and wouldn’t you know it – Snoops Dream did the same thing. Clearly I need more Snoop Dogg related marijuana products in my life. It was the week before Christmas that I tried some great herb, it was Avitas‘ Snoop’s Dream and the taste was superb. Before you lies our careful critique, of the bud we picked up from Green-Theory marijuana boutique.

We’ve touched on Avitas as a producer before in previous reviews (see here, and here) – but basically, to describe them in a singular sentence: they are growing something special. Avitas is a values-first producer, specifically focusing on: Customers, Quality, Community, Environment, Genetics, & Cultivation. I’d recommend checking out their graceful website for more information on this kick ass marijuana producer.

Avitas packaging fits the holiday cheer, it’s almost like a deconstructed Christmas tree: we’ve got the tinsel and shininess of decorations, alongside the present-like presentation. Good folk of Seattle, this is the perfect stocking stuffer (for anyone 21 years old, of course).

One thing this author particularly enjoys about Avitas packaging is the abundance of information on the front of the baggie. We get the strain name, the sativa/indica percentage, and a description of the strain:

Smooth smoke with lots of Kush flavor. Relaxed body with a dreamy and euphoric headiness.

Damn, I was really hoping for Snoop tested, Snoop approved (ala Kix cereal) – oh well, we all can’t get what we want for Christmas… plus Avitas’ description is much better then mine in terms of clarity. Asides from all that information, we get a rustic yet complex mandala-like design wrapping around the sticker. I literally cannot praise Avitas enough (with such fantastic values and intuitive packaging), so I’m just going to leave it at that and move on to The Specifics:

Snoop’s Dream has a duality of sweet and spice when it comes to the smell. Churning up some nugs in my grinder, the fragrance is divine: a solid dryer sheet earthiness lingers on the nostrils, with a sensation from the spice.

The bud itself is a remarkable shade of white neon green, snowcapped from tip to stem with fresh powdah’ (sometimes the Northeastern accent in me comes out). Jump on the gondola and take a ride to the top with Snoop’s Dream.

The dryer sheet earthiness heavily carries over from smell to taste with this strain. Avitas describes this as “kush flavor”, and by jove – I think they’re on to something. Smoking out of my Hotbox vaporizer, Snoop’s Dream is an all around pleasure to indulge in with a strong flavor and seemingly soft smoke.

What did I do when I got stoned? We decorated our tree, actually. It was quite fitting: friends over to get high, and decorate a small tree in a small apartment. We got turnt up on that Charlie Brown Christmas album, y’know how it goes.

On a more specific note, the feeling was incredibly heady (as Avitas mentions in the description) – not heavy, mind you. There is a fantastic lightness to the high of Snoop’s Dream, a clean experience where you are fresh in and fresh out. This is what I’d consider a “treat yo’ self” strain, which is why it would make the perfect Christmas gift.

Kudos to Avitas for cranking another home-run, and indeed a happy holiday to all.
